It’s got a "resource" system where you turn almost any card in your hand into Ink, meaning you’re never just sitting there with your thumb in your ear waiting for a turn. It’s fast, it’s vibrant, and it’s got a layer of strategy that’ll make you realize that a singing mermaid can be just as dangerous as a laser-pistol if played at the right time.

What I respect about this game is how it rewards the "quest." You have to decide every turn: do I send my guys out to gain points and leave them vulnerable to a challenge, or do I keep them back to protect my stash? It’s a constant gamble of risk versus reward. The art is top-shelf, the community is actually decent to talk to, and it’s got that "easy to pick up, impossible to stop" momentum that makes for a great night at the table.

Here is the lowdown on the three "Ink-stained" kits we’ve got in the hangar:

• Amber & Sapphire (Fabled Legends): This is the deck for the player who likes a solid support system and a massive bank account. Amber is all about "singing" songs and bringing your friends back from the discard pile, while Sapphire is the king of "Ramp"—meaning you get your Ink into the pool faster than anyone else. You’re playing the long game here, building up a massive resource lead so you can drop heavy hitters like Simba or Hades while the other guy is still counting his pennies. It’s reliable, it’s sturdy, and it wins through sheer economic superiority.

• Amethyst & Ruby (Shimmering Skies): If you like to play fast and keep your opponent guessing, this is your ride. Amethyst is the "weird" ink—it’s all about drawing extra cards and exhausting your opponent’s characters so they can't quest. Ruby is the "aggro" ink, full of characters that are built for direct challenges and banishing the competition. When you put them together, you get a deck that is incredibly annoying to play against because you’re constantly messing with the other guy’s board while keeping your own hand full of tricks. It’s a high-energy, "in-your-face" style of play.

• Amber & Emerald (Into the Inklands): This deck is for the tactician who likes to use the environment to their advantage. This set introduced Locations, which are cards that stay on the board and give you passive Lore or special buffs just for being there. Emerald is the "trickster" ink—it’s full of effects that punish your opponent for challenging you, like making them discard cards or return characters to their hand. Combined with Amber’s ability to heal and protect, this deck is all about "tempo."
